Clarks Shoes And Boots-A Guide

By Amanda Wilson

Of all the shoe retailer and manufacturer companies there are today, one of the most globally famous brands of women's shoes are C.&J. Clarks women's shoes. Unknown to many people, C.&J.Clarks are also one of the oldest shoe manufacturing companies today with an age approaching two hundred. Although you may find many changes made by the company over the years, the company is still under the control of the Clark family. Even back nearly two hundred years ago in 1825, it was Cyrus and James Clark that came up with the idea of starting a small business together.

Unknown to many however, before C.&J. Clarks became what it is today, it was originally a small company producing stapling wool and tanning. It was actually William Clark, James' son who made the decision to move the company's focus onto producing "comfort shoes" in 1893 when he took over the company. After multiple successes on the company's part, we have what we know today as one of the most successful and well known shoes manufacturers to date. Amongst the various accomplishments of the company, one of the more prominent ones would be being rated as the 33rd largest private companies in the UK.

Despite this, C.&J. Clarks have now ceased any manufacturing operations in the UK outsourcing the production work to the Far East so as to cut down on the increasing production costs. Today, despite all the changes endured and experience gained by the company over a little under two centuries, their comfort shoes are still as comfortable as ever. In fact, sales are so good that last year alone, Clarks had a sales figure of 1,174 million with a profit of 125 million. The comfort level aside, the company is also famous for its wide range of designs for men and women of all ages alike making it easy to comprehend how C.&J. Clarks are one of the best brands today.

The designs for women's shoes in fact, are so successful that C.&J. Clarks women's shoes are able to contend with other major women's shoes brands in terms of popularity. In fact, the sales figure alone is contributed by a large number of female fans of the women's shoes manufactured by C.&J. Clarks. Regardless of how eccentric or exuberant the design, the quality and reliability of the footwear remains constant if not improved over the years. One of the more famous variants is the extremely successful Clark Desert Boots introduced in the year 1950.

At the time however, Clark Desert Boots were in fact not at all popular amongst women as they were originally introduced as a type of men's footwear. Over the years, women have also come to love these simple yet comfortable and delightful boots. Despite the numerous innovative designs presented by the company over the years, Clarks Desert Boots are still one of the more popular designs there are today. Apart from these boots, Clarks also makes some of the best sandals in the industry.

One sandal design in particular, the Clark Navan Slingback Sandals are one of the most popular choice of sandals the brands have to offer today. However, regardless of whether it is the Clark Desert Boots or the Clark Navan Slingback Sandals, all Clarks shoes come with one common point which is a high level of comfort. These "comfort shoes" were able to become popular all over the world due to the many steps and measures taken by the company to ensure that the shoes that are manufactured are sufficiently comfortable such as using softer materials like suede for padding the inside of the shoes. One way this method is used is to use the material to pad the inside of the shoes thus allowing for a more comfortable feel especially in shoes such as heels.

Although it is well known worldwide, due to its British roots, it is in the United Kingdom that Clarks shoes are the most popular. The brand name has also been equated to the very meaning of comfortable, top quality and fashionable shoes even today. The only possible downside to buying a pair of Clarks shoes are the high prices that come with the quality of the shoes.
