Discover the Best Canyon Tour In America

By Jules Elliot

On that note, runners from all over the country gather to participate in the once a year Grand Canyon Ultra Marathon which is a whopping 78 mile marathon that circles around the most famous areas of the canyon. The Grand Canyon is also an exciting place for photographer to visit.

It is thought that the river established its course somewhere around 17 million years ago and since then it has continually worked to erode one layer of rock at a time and has formed the Grand Canyon as it is today. Most of Grand Canyon is contained within the Grand Canyon National Park which was the 15th National Park in the United States.

Before the European settlement, however, the Grand Canyon was inhabited by many generations of Native Americans who adapted to the comparatively harsh climate and land by building houses in caves and using unique hunting techniques. Many of these Native Americans considered the canyon a holy site and thousands made pilgrimages to various areas every year. It is thought that in 1540 the first European, Gacia, Lopez de Cardenas, who sailed in from Spain and happened upon the beautiful site.

Today it is known that what makes Grand Canyon unique is not necessarily its depth or width (it is neither the deepest nor widest canyon in the world) but rather its overwhelming vastness, intricate rock layers and patterns, and its extraordinary colors, especially during the sunset. Because of these things, the Grand Canyon attracts over five million people a year, all coming from just about any and every corner of the world.

Both the National Park Service tours and The Grand Canyon Tour Company tours show their visitors the best that the Grand Canyon has to offer. They do this efficiently, safely and they make sure that everyone is having fun with the large group as well as with just their own friends and family. Check out your Grand Canyon tour and start living today!
