Some Reliable Knowledge Of Learning How To Make Kombucha

Kombucha is a drink made by fermenting tea and sugar. To ferment the sugar and tea, there is a culture or scoby will be needed. The drink is mostly used for health purposes, but most people use it for its nutritional values. It can be found in stores or you can learn how to make Kombucha at home.

There are simple ways to make your drink at home. Some ingredients and equipments will be required to help you. The main ingredient is a scoby. It can also be referred as a Kombucha culture or mushroom. The Internet serves as a good market for the scoby.

A small amount of this drink made before serves as a starter. If there is none, vinegar can be used. To make your drink have a better taste, some tea will be needed. Any type of tea will work. You can choose from black, lemon or green. Sugar will be needed to increase fermentation. Water will be used to increase the amount of the drink made.

A clean towel, rubber band, teapot, bottles, and a glass bowl are some of the equipments used. They should be clean to avoid any contamination of the scoby. Before you start, ensure that your hands are clean. In fact, this should be done before preparing any meal.

Boil the water in the saucepan for about five minutes. Put in some tea bags of any flavor and add sugar. After some minutes remove the tea bags and leave the tea to cool. The tea should not be added into the culture when it is hot, this will damage the culture.

Pour the batch of Kombucha from your previous brew, or a small amount of cider vinegar into the glass jar. This serves as a starter to increase the acidity to the culture. Add the tea into the jar, make sure it is cool. Once the tea is added into the jar, slide the scoby inside the jar.

At this point, you are almost done learning how to make Kombucha. A clean towel and rubber band will be used to cover the jar. Make sure it is well sealed and store the jar. The cupboard will be good for storage with the dark and warm environment it has. The can take five to fourteen days to be ready, this depends with the temperature. Use a spoon to separate the scoby from the liquid to taste. If the it has a sweet and sour taste, it is ready to be taken.
