HMTD Training In Singapore

By Gary Sulayman

Imagine that you're driving on a long deserted length of road late at night with no one around.

Then suddenly, you begin to see that there's a small flame burning by the side of your truck.

Perhaps something back there over heated or there was a fire hazard or you've just run into plain bad luck, no matter what, NOW, you've got to take action to stop it from making your life a danger.

You've got to take action immediately.

What do you do?

Because had you taken a proper HMTD course and prepared your life this situation would be almost too easy to fix.

You would know exactly what to do in all circumstances.

The most fundamental thing is knowing the three main types of fires that can occur and how to put these fires out quickly.

You would know also know how to use a fire extinguisher in the right way.

Most people would just point and shoot at the fire with their extinguisher, but that if anything would get you in trouble, especially if it was the wrong type of fire you're dealing with.

You'll need to know what that one thing is because its crucial to figure out the right technique.

Here's the tip.

P.A.S.S. ... That's it. P.A.S.S. will help you extinguish fires faster than pointing and spraying.

Pull out the safety pin.

This is the most simple step in the entire P.A.S.S. system.

Occassionally, the pin is broken, it comes out before it should. If you don't get this inspected, it could be a violation of safety laws but this depends on the site you are in.

Point the fire extinguisher.

The nozzle should be facing the fire directly.

The handle should then be squeezed firmly.

As it reads, squeeze the handle, do it firmly and consistently.

Next is the step that many miss out on. SWEEP.

In a sweeping motion, cover the entire area of the fire. Ensure that the white cloud touches every inch of the burnt perimeter.

This is to ensure that the fire does not get re-ignited.

The last point is what many people miss out on, and missing this is no laughing matter, it could get you seriously injured. And to train your life its best if you go for a proper course on dealing with more situations and scenarios.
