Fireplace options to choose from in a brand new house

By Bartholomew Coventry

A new home stands for a new start and this can be incredibly exciting. Moving house is often associated with being a very stressful period of time, you can't let the negative aspects of the move impact on the positives. Moving house gives you a great opportunity to design the home that you have always wanted.

Going through your new house room by room, you'll no doubt come up with all sorts of ideas of how to improve them or revamp them so they complement your personal tastes. However, you need to take your time with the decorating because you can only focus on one thing at a time.

Perhaps the most sensible option is to start decorating your new home by addressing the rooms that you'll see the most of at first. This will include the living room in particular. The living room is the room we choose to socialise in and to take it easy in - two things that will be important in the first few months you spend in the new house.

Replacing the fireplace is a fantastic way to kick things off. The fireplace is one of the chief centrepieces in the lounge and when you take an existing fireplace out and put a new one in its place you immediately start to stamp your personality on the room, giving the whole house some of your own style.

There are lots of different options in terms of the style of fireplace that most suits your tastes. Common favourites include the stone fireplace, the marble fireplace and the wooden fireplace - all of which are fantastic choices, but it's likely that only one will fit your big ideas for the design of your living room.

Don't rush into anything to quickly because fireplaces are obviously made to last a long time. It's likely that whichever fireplace you go for when you first make changes to your home will outlast everything else in the room. Throughout all the little decorative changes you make over the years, your fireplace will remain a constant.
