Elevating Your Blogging to New Levels of Success

By Buster Gerold

Have you been blogging for a while? If so, even the more advanced blogging techniques may not be something that you are currently aware of. After you learn the advanced techniques, refining them is something you need to keep doing. Anyone that does blogging will feel more comfortable doing it once everything is set up the way they want it. Anyone that starts a new blog has to come to the realization that no one is actually listening to them when they first start out. The following blogging tips will give you more power and confidence.

The importance of a blog headline is a topic of discussion in most circles, and it is extremely important for a variety of reasons. People that post on their blog typically do so in a mad rush. When you type out your blog post, the body typically comes first, then the headline. You're rushing and just don't take as much time on it as you should. I am guilty just like everyone else going too fast, when I post on my blog as well. Many times I will make a post and notice that the headline is weak, and that it needs a little work. After I see this, I will then try to fix it to the best of my ability. Avoiding hype in your headline is something you should do because most people do not appreciate it. If you are posting to experienced IMers, they have seen these tricks before, and therefore they won't work.

Lecturing in a heavy-handed manner isn't the best way to convince somebody of something. This type of writing only annoys people, and it's something you should try to avoid. If you have strong views on a topic, you may be doing this without realizing it. If you proofread everything you write, you can edit out any such tendencies. It's hard to be objective about something as you're writing it. Try to imagine you are one of your blog's readers as you proofread your posts. It's not a crime if you come across as opinionated every so often. It's just something to be aware of so you don't do it too often.

If you don't like the way your writing voice sounds, you can work on it so that it becomes more effective. Reading out lout also has an impact on your breathing. As you read out loud, you may find that some sentences are difficult to complete in a single breath. Something similar occurs even when people read silently, and this is still awkward for people.

One of the primary reasons blogs were invented was to enable a higher degree of socializing. Most blog comments are not like forum posts, where people talk to one another. It's the content of the blog that provides the material for discussion. To motivate people to comment, though, takes some effort on your part. This is a type of professional networking, as you get to know your readers by interacting with them on your blog. It's important to reply to comments, as this will inspire more people to participate. If you want to encourage participation, you have to acknowledge all comments. One of the best things about blogging is how informal it actually is in regard to other types of publications. It's good to have fun while blogging, but you should also be serious and professional to some degree. Let your hair down a little and let your audience enjoy what you have to offer.
