What Is Mesotherapy Cellulite Treatment?

By Stacey Massey

It is not only those who are overweight who suffer with cellulite. You find slim men and women who suffer with this problem. There are many treatment products available for the condition, but most of them are ineffective. Mesotherapy cellulite therapy has been found to be one of the most effective methods available as it targets the underlying problem, not only the visible signs.

The condition usually makes it appearance in people between 25 and 35 years old and is most prevalent on the hips, buttocks and thighs. It worsens as time goes by. Mesotherapy treatment is most effective in the early stages of the condition. Once it becomes worse, it will be necessary to undergo more sessions of the treatment.

Cellulite is normally categorized into three stages. Stage zero is when the cellulite is not visible, even when the skin is pinched. Stage one is when you do not notice any signs when you are sitting of lying down, but when you pinch your skin, you will notice the dimpled effect that cellulite forms.

At stage two, the dimpled effect will be noticeable when you are standing up, but not when you are lying down. At stage three the condition is noticeable whether you are lying down, sitting or standing. This is the stage when the condition is referred to as being terminal. It was previously thought that at stage three the condition could not be treated, however with mesotherapy cellulite treatment this view has changed.

The therapy reduces the symptoms of the condition by the use of injections of a specially prepared formula into the affected regions. The formula includes small doses of minerals, amino acids, vitamins and other medication that targets the fat cells in the area. The therapy is similar to lipotherapy as it aims to dissolve the fat cells. The dissolved fat is carried away from the sub-dermal layer and released from the body.

Many patients notice a visible positive result after only a couple of treatments. The most effective results should become visible after five sessions. You can choose to undergo therapy each week, however, your sessions will be limited to a number of ten in a half-year period. Your personal response to the therapy and the size of the fat layer will determine the treatment level. You are able to repeat the therapy program after a six month period, however, this is generally not a requirement.

Side effects have been reported with this therapy. Individuals have reported mild irritation and redness of the skin for a short period after the treatment. Others have experienced bruising and tenderness in the area, which disappeared after about four days. Rare side effects may include allergic reaction, swelling and possible infection at the point of injection. Your practitioner will normally treat a small area first to test for any side effects.

Individual responses to mesotherapy cellulite treatment are such that results cannot be guaranteed. It is not to be seen as a weight loss program and better results can be achieved if the therapy is used in combination with a regular exercise program and a healthy weight loss diet. The results of this therapy will be effective as long as there is no significant weight gain or diet change.
