Training Your Chihuahua: Effective Tips To Train Them

By Abner Santos

Dogs are considered as man's best friend and this is always true in different circumstances. It does not matter whether you have a small or a big dog because they are always known for their loyalty. With all the different kinds of breeds of dogs, Chihuahua is one of the most popular and one of the cutest breeds.

Chihuahuas might be very tiny in size but their bravery and loyalty is the same as any huge dog breeds in the world. When compared to other dogs, they are fast learners and they can also be trained and many ways you can imagine. But, before you train your Chihuahua, there are some things that you have to understand before you start. Below are some of the important tips that you need to know before you start training your Chihuahua.

Start with the Basic Rule

The basic rule is to make your dog think that you are the leader and this can be accomplished during the first 16 weeks of your dog. If you are planning to buy a dog from a pet store, it is best if you will ask them about the age of the dog before you decide to buy. It is not a problem if the dog is already 4 months old but if you plan to train it, you better try to look for a younger dog.

Rewarding

The main rule in training your dog is to give rewards every time they accomplished an order from you. You need to be strict when it comes to rewarding especially if you want your Chihuahua to learn faster. Always be sure that you will not give rewards unless they accomplish your order and every time they accomplish something, do not forget the rewards for their deeds. Your dog will always look forward to new lessons from you if you do it right.

Your Chi's Social Life

You should not keep your dog all day inside the house because they will also want to look on the outside world. This is also a great way to train them especially on how to behave when they are outside the territory. Always walk them in the morning and you can also bring them on family outings because if they feel that they are already part of their family, you will not have a hard time training them.

Keep it Healthy

You can easily find websites that are willing to provide some information about the nutrients and food needed by your dogs. It is also advisable to avoid over feeding your Chihuahua especially before you start the training because when they are already full, they will not be looking forward on the rewards that you will give them.
